AV Engineer

C3EL is seeking candidates for an AV System Design Engineer position to support a dynamic Video Conferencing (VTC) and Audiovisual support team focused on DOD and federal command and control spaces and systems. Other areas of support included commercial enterprise systems, board rooms, and conference rooms. The ideal candidate should have experience designing systems using Crestron, Extron, AMX, Biamp, Cisco, and all leading display systems manufacturers, to include direct view LED systems, with previous experience supporting DOD efforts and or large enterprise clients.  

Daily work:

  • Develops scopes of work using various customer documents, and direct input based on client requirements.

  • Develops and manages audiovisual Installation Design Plans (IPD), using AutoCAD, adhering to government and commercial customers design standards.

  • Develops systems schematics for audiovisual control, audio, video distribution, networks, and display systems. IDP’s will include architectural floor plans, reflected ceiling plans, sections, elevations, and detailed installation diagrams and instructions.

  • Develops material and equipment lists. 

  • Works directly with sales and procurement supporting change orders.

  • Coordinate and conduct site surveys on installations and changes of existing or proposed audiovisual systems.

  • Update Audiovisual System Design Package schematics to “As-Built” drawings after completed system installation.

  • Produces cable labeling packages for installations.

  • Develops customer installation acceptance documents.

  • Provide advice, guidance, and subject matter expertise to ensure that Government schedule, performance, and budget targets are met.


  • Five years’ experience developing audiovisual and VTC system designs, drawings, documentation, and schematics supporting large scale complex efforts.

  • Expert level 2D AutoCAD designer.

  • Core fundamental knowledge of network technologies and security concepts.

  • Strong customer focus and able to communicate optimally with personnel at all levels (staff to executive)

  • Sound knowledge of engineering design principles and change management.

  • Certified Technology Specialist (CTS) OR Cisco Video Network Specialist OR Cisco Certified Specialist – Collaboration.

  • Crestron Core track certification

  • Extron AV Associate certification

Desired not mandatory qualifications:




BS in information technology, computer science or engineering in a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.

  • Monday - Friday

  • Occasional travel is required to support site survey’s
